We visited Carol Mueske's orchard a few weeks prior to peak apple season. During a walk around the orchard and gardens, she explained the remarkable variety of apples grown on the farm and differences in the needs of each tree and fruit. Mueske Family Farm also offers some of the only plums and plum preserves to be found at our markets.
Mueske Family Farm has a long history growing apples just north of Saint Charles, MN. They used to have a farm store and large production of apples and apple products at the farm. Now, Carol and her son have scaled back their operation and focus primarily on the farmers market and sales to local schools.
At the market, look for Carol's booth with her memorable display of dried apples. These healthy snacks have been a staple of the family business for decades.
